ANIMALS

Animals are classified into two main groups:

VERTEBRATES-animals with internal skeleton
INVERTEBRATES-animals without internal skeleton


We will focus on vertebrates, so that click on this picture to learn more about them

Vertebrates have got a backbone and a skeleton inside them. They have an internal skeleton made of bones.

There are FIVE groups of vertebrates:

MAMMALS
BIRDS
FISH
REPTILES
AMPHIBIANS

  • They are viviparous. They are born from their mother's womb
  • They have got hair and fur
  • They have got four legs but, however, some mammals have got wings (bat) or they haven't got legs (dolphin)

HOW DO PLANTS GROW?

Plants need to grow: water, light, air, nutrients and warmth

Water. Without water, plants can dry and die

Light. Plants need sunlight so that they can make their own food

Nutrients. Plants need good food from soil

Warmth. Plants grow up in good conditions. It is not necessary too hot or too cold

PARTS OF A PLANT

Most plants have got different parts:


  • ROOT. It is the part of a plant that keeps it in place and takes in water and minerals. It Is very important for plants.
  • STEM. The main body of a plant. It supports the plant and carries water and nutrients  to all parts of the plant.
  • LEAVES. The green part of plants that makes food for them. 
  • FLOWER. It is the part of plants that is needed for reproduction. 
  • SEED. The part of a plant that will grow into a new plant
